Talking of cybersecurity

Just a few days away were enough to find everything upside down.

Where were the usual articles and photos? Instead the homepage was featuring several “new articles” in unknown languages (apparently Arabic and many Cyrillic characters), repeated words (bet, bet, bet, casino…), and a considerable number of “new authors” of unknown origin.

Despite the security tools used, the most traditional and basic methods seem to have been employed to create new users, delete articles, and add new ones.

In other words, the solution was the traditional password change, followed by user removal, and finally, recovery of the items using cloud archive and online backups.

Content recovery will not be immediate or easy; it will take time and effort, but the articles will be back to their space and the content will be available again.

Increasingly, cybersecurity is a matter of high importance, but it doesn’t always require incredible skills or drastic measures and high investments. Sometimes, it’s simply a matter of keeping passwords updated and always having a backup of your work.
